Your support urgently needed for the RBYC new pontoon

A letter from the Commodore
Dear Members

Further to my (very) recent Commodore's blog, I am pleased to announce that the planning application for the our replacement pontoon was validated in record time by Maldon District Council on 21st December 2016.

However, this is only represents the beginning of the process. The next stage is for Maldon District Council to receive comments on the application and this is where I plead for your support.

If the application is to advance favourably, we have a very short amount of time to ensure that positive feedback is received by MDC. Could I ask members to go to the link below and make your comments. You will first need to register with the site and will given ‘check box’ options to support the application and can add comments. With this email, I also include a sample suggested letter which you may wish to use as an outline for your support.

failing that, please find details using the planning reference is 16/01476
and visiting the planning website URL:-
http://publicaccess.maldon.gov.uk/online-applications/

I would also ask that you encourage your friends, family and other supporters of the RBYC to do the same.

Time is short - the deadline for comments is 27th January 2017.

As members of the RBYC, we all recognise the need to replace our ageing pontoon. The current structure has become worn and is now dated in design compared with the facilities offered by other clubs and boatyards on the river. The new plans include a wider structure and improved facilities for launching and mooring boats and dinghies. We cannot forget that when first constructed, ours was the 'first' on the river and we all appreciate that without this vital form of access to the river, we would not be able to take the club forward.

If you have any immediate questions about the plans for the pontoon, please do not hesitate to contact me via info@rbyc.org.uk. Plans for the new pontoon are currently on the club notice board and full details of the proposals to fund the project will be provided at the AGM, but in the meantime, I thank you for your support of this exciting project.

Dear Sirs

RE: PLANNING APPLICATION -16/01476/FUL - REPLACEMENT FLOATING PONTOON.

I am writing to offer my support for the above planning application.

The Royal Burnham Yacht Club is a thriving club in the heart of Burnham on Crouch and a key part of the local community.

The replacement of the floating pontoon is a vital part of the fabric of the club, offering safe and regular access to the river for over four hundred members and guest of varying ages.

The replacement pontoon will offer a vast improvements for to its users and will also improve the visual appearance of this stretch of river where the existing pontoon has been in place for more than 40 years.

For the reasons stated above I wish to support the application and commend it for your approval.

Yours faithfully
