Whitsun 2018 sees the return of the Minerva Cup series,  on Sunday 27th (afternoon) and Monday 28th May (morning), and we are delighted to announce that Allen Brothers have kindly agreed to sponsor our prizes again.

This will be run as a Regatta Fleet Sailing event for Optimists, with training for the sailors entered.

Register and briefing from 12.30hrs on Sunday; first start: 1400hrs and 09.45hrs on Monday – with up to three races scheduled for each day with the intention that they are sailed back-to-back.

Minerva OppiesPrizegiving will be after racing on Monday 28th May.

Please do book your catering in advance – it helps the kitchen and it ensures that wait times are short for our hungry sailors!  Pre-ordered baguettes will be available for competitors on Sunday lunchtime, there is a club BBQ on Sunday evening at 6pm (priced at £8 for Cadets and £15 for adults) and a lunchtime menu is open to Cadets after racing on Monday.

  • Racing for the Minerva Cup 27th & 28th May 2018

  • It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian signing the declaration to make known any disability/medical condition that may affect your child during the activity, and any medication that they may require. This information will be shared with those responsible for supervising the activity.
  • Races will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-20, the rules of each class and the Sailing Instructions (available at registration). Any changes to the SIs will either be posted on the Official Notice Board at least 1 hour before racing begins, or by communication (which may be oral) to competitors before the Warning Signal.
  • DECLARATIONS

    I hereby certify that the boat entered on this form carries third party insurance cover, with a sum insured of at least £2,000,000, and a current measurement certificate (if appropriate) including buoyancy test, and complies with class rules.
    I acknowledge that the organising authority (RBYC) is only able to provide reasonable safety facilities during sailing. In the event of adverse weather conditions, parents or guardians alone must decide whether the child entrant can cope on the water and has adequate safety equipment. I acknowledge that I have sole responsibility for my children/wards during the week and must appreciate that the RBYC cannot be expected to exercise supervision or control. The organising authority accepts no responsibility for any damage suffered by persons or property on or off the water. In an emergency situation I authorise the organisers to take my child to hospital and give my full permission for any treatment required to be carried out in accordance with the hospital’s diagnosis. I understand that I shall be notified, as soon as possible, of the hospital visit and any treatment given by the hospital. I agree to notify the organisation of any relevant changes in my child’s circumstances. I confirm that my child is not under a court order.
  • Your contact details may be used by the RBYC to get in touch regarding future events.
  • Images of the Sailor and his or her boat may be used by the RBYC for publicity and training purposes
    I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 and all other rules that govern this racing.
  • PAYMENT

    The Entry Fee is £5 per sailor, per day if entries are received in advance. Entrants on the day will be charged at £7.50 per day. Details of how to pay will be in your confirmation email.

    A Pre-Race snack, in the form of a Ham, Cheese or Tuna baguette will be available at registration on Sunday 27th May, but must be pre-booked. If you want to have a snack before you go out please indicate your requirements below.
